Catherine

Catherine Larson completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute, IN where she studied with Michael Boswell. There, she was the first Musician of Promise scholarship recipient, and a member of the Chorale and Madrigals. The Madrigals traveled locally, as well as internationally where they competed in the Mayo International Choral Festival in May 2019 and won 1st place. In 2019, they published a CD Lineage where she was a featured soloist, and ensemble member.

In December 2022, she completed her Masters in Vocal Performance at North Park University in Chicago, IL where she studied with Dr. You-Seong Kim, and David Govertsen. While there, she worked as the opera assistant under George Cederquist, participated in Chamber Singers, and University Choir, and performed roles such as: Rosimonda in Handel's Faramondo (2021), the Soldier in Zach Redler and Jerre Dye's The Falling and the Rising (2022), and Bastienne in Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne (2022). During her studies, Catherine worked as a soprano section leader at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, IL. Catherine made her international debut performing the role of Terra in the international premiere of Pluto by Michael J. Polo conducted by well-known Maestro, Robert Paposci, and covered the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni as part of the Vienna Summer Music Festival (2022.)

As a freelance artist, Catherine has performed for a variety of events such as funerals, weddings, etc. In December 2022, Catherine participated in the chorus, and had the pleasure of playing the sleigh bells in Third Eye Theatre Ensemble’s production of the Christmas Spider by Clint Borzoni conducted by Alexis Enyart. This year, Catherine has recently performed regionally as a guest alumni artist for Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Sacred Music Festival (2023) where she was a featured soloist and had a pleasure of singing with American bass-baritone Marques Jerrell Ruff, and mezzo-soprano Mitzi Westra in a quintet. Catherine also recently performed as a guest artist for North Park University’s opera production as Elena in Buried Alive by Jeff Myers and Quincy Long, as well as a soloist/chorus in their Oratorio concert of Handel’s Messiah under the direction of Dr. Julia Davids, and alongside the Callipygian Players Baroque Orchestra (2023.) Currently, Catherine is a student of Judith Haddon and works as an Assistant Teacher.
